| Bratwurst
with Sauerkraut
Ingredients:

3 slices Bacon, halved
2 lbs. SYRACUSE'S Bratwurst
2 c Water
6 Cloves Garlic
3 med. Onions, halved
2 lbs. Saurkraut, washed and drained
4 whole Black peppercorns
2 Bay Leaves
1 c White Wine
2 Red Apples, cut into quarters and cored
3 med. Potatoes, peeled and cut into thirds |
Instructions:

In 6-quart Dutch oven, sauté bacon until crisp.
With slotted spoon, remove bacon, crumble and set aside.
With spoon, skim off excess fat. In drippings in Dutch
oven, place bratwurst. Add water; bring to boiling. Reduce
heat, and simmer covered, 15 minutes. Insert clove into
each onion half; add onions, sauerkraut, peppercorns,
bay leaves, and white wine to Dutch oven. Cook covered,
10 minutes. Add apples and potatoes; cook 30 minutes longer,
or until potatoes are tender. (As soon as apples are tender,
remove and set aside.) Slice Sausage in 2” slices;
arrange on platter with sauerkraut, potatoes, and apples.
Sprinkle vegetables with reserved bacon. Makes 8 servings.
